Tour Introduction
Experience the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway and the Trans-Mongolian Railway on board a private charter train. Grand Trans-Siberian Express offers a choice of 4 accommodation categories from Economy to Deluxe as well as a restaurant, a bar and a conference area for lectures.   
On the first sector between Beijing and Ulaanbaatar passengers will fly. This is designed for those looking for more comfort and sightseeing opportunities. You take a 2 hour flight to Ulaanbaatar which allows you additional time for sightseeing in Mongolia. Passport holders of more than 40 countries can visit Beijing visa free for up to 72 hours (up to 3 nights).

Add-ons after the trip – tour programs and accommodation
This trip is very different in style and content to our regular Trans-Siberian journeys. It is a group departure and has all the day trips and excursions included. You can add an extension to Saint-Petersburg from Moscow with accommodation in Saint-Petersburgovernight or express day train and extra nights accommodation in Moscow, along with a number of additional tours in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.

Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
You meet your tour guides at Beijing airport and they will transfer you to the hotel. There will be time to relax before this evening’s dinner. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 2 Beijing
The Great Wall of China is the 8th Wonder of the World; this is your chance to experience it up close. Followed by a visit to the Summer Palace. This evening a welcome dinner featuring the world-famous Chinese dish, Peking Duck. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 3 Depart Beijing
Today’s sightseeing tour includes Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) and Temple of Heaven. This evening a two hour flight takes you from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, the Mongolian capital. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 4 Ulaanbaatar
Today an unforgettable excursion to the Terelj National Park. Within the National Park you will have the chance to meet a herder family inside their yurt. This afternoon a show has been specially arranged for the participants of the Grand Trans-Siberian Express. The show will demonstrate three disciplines of the Mongolian National Naadam festival: Wrestling, Archery and Horse racing. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 5 Ulaanbaatar
During today’s sightseeing tour you will visit the famous Ghandan Monastery and the central Genghis Khan Square. At the Zaisan monument viewpoint you will have an excellent view of the city which is surrounded by large areas of yurt settlements. This afternoon you board your private train which will be your home for the journey to Moscow. Accommodation on board The Grand Trans-Siberian Express.

Day 6 Ulan-Ude
The Grand Trans-Siberian Express makes its first scheduled stop in Russia, in the city of Ulan-Ude. Excursion to Tarbagatay, a village with traditional brightly painted house, home to the “Old Believers”, whose simple life of hard work and avoidance of luxuries have led some to call them “Russia’s Amish” – they claim to be the true branch of Russian Orthodox Christianity, and refused to accept religious reforms of the C17th when they fled to Siberia to escape the persecution that followed. At Ulan-Ude the Grand Trans-Siberian Express switches from the Trans-Mongolian mainline to the traditional Trans-Siberian mainline on its way to Moscow. Day 7 Port Baikal and Listvyanka Village
Arrival to Irkutsk the capital of Eastern Siberia. Today The Grand Trans-Siberian Express will “run” at low speed along the scenic Circum Baikal Railway line between Sludyanka and Port Baikal. A photo stop will be arranged at a small village where you can get off the train, put your feet into the clear and cold water of Lake Baikal and also includes a visit to the typical wooden houses of local people. On arrival to Port Baikal a boat takes you on a short cruise on Lake Baikal to Listvyanka Village. A walk through the village shows you to St Nicholas church, a typical orthodox wooden build church beautiful renovated in the 1990’s. During today’s Siberian lunch you can taste the famous Omul fish, which can only be found in Lake Baikal. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 8 Irkutsk
Irkutsk is famous for its trade with Mongolia and China and used to be called “Paris of Siberia” because of its colourful life style during the time of the Tsars. You visit the old town with its large quarters still consisting of only wooden houses. This afternoon a cultural highlight of the tour; a private classical concert in a palace of historical background. This evening you re-join the private train. Day 9 Krasnoyarsk
Arrival to Krasnoyarsk, formerly a “closed city” during Soviet times. The city is located along the Yenissei River which is the greatest river system flowing to the Arctic Ocean. During a river cruise on the Yenissei you will have a fantastic view of the city and the huge railway bridge that crosses the river. Accommodation on board the Grand Trans-Siberian Express which is bound for Novosibirsk.

Day 10 Novosibirsk
Arrival to Novosibirsk which is situated in, the heart of Siberia. Today’s city tour includes a visit to the Opera House, which is the biggest in Russia and situated in Lenin Square. You will also have the opportunity to see some remarkable orthodox churches which survived the Soviet period. Accommodation on board the Grand Trans-Siberian Express which is bound for Ekaterinburg.

Day 11 Ekaterinburg
During the course of the city tour you will see the newly erected Cathedral-on-the-blood, a memorial erected to mark the assassination of The Romanov Family in 1918. This afternoon an excursion into the Ural forest takes you to the Ganina Yama, which today is considered by Russian as a “holy place”. Accommodation in a 4★ hotel.

Day 12 Departing Ekaterinburg
This morning the train departs Ekaterinburg. Today an opportunity for you to experience a typical day on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The train passes through the Ural Mountains and endless scenery of forests, lakes and small settlements. A day to relax, watch the landscape and listen to lectures about the country and its people. Accommodation on board the Grand Trans-Siberian Express which is now on the final leg bound for Moscow.

Day 13 Moscow
Today the almost 6,000 miles long journey from Beijing to Moscow terminates. A full afternoon sightseeing tour shows you the magnificent Red Square, including the Kremlin grounds.

Day 14 Journey Ends
This unique and unforgettable experience comes to an end and you start your return journey home.

Standard Economy Cabins

The budget way of travelling
3 or 4 persons per cabin

This category is popular with those looking for the most economical way of travelling and is usually booked by families with children or friends travelling together. Standard Economy sleeping cars are equipped with 2 lower beds and 2 upper beds. Toilets and wash basins are situated at both ends of the cars for the common use. The cars are air conditioned (central control). The air condition operates only during the time the train is moving. Sockets for 220 V are available in the car, capable for razors and loading mobile phones, cameras and notebooks. The Standard Economy cars offer 9 cabins each and may be booked only by 3 or 4 passengers travelling together. In the hotels the 4 passengers are staying in 2 double rooms, 3 passengers are staying in 1 double and 1 single room.

Standard Plus Cabins

The most popular category

Standard Plus as well as Deluxe Silver are the most popular type of accommodation on our private train. Standard Plus cabins are equipped with 2 lower beds and 2 upper beds. While only the two lower beds are used for sleeping, the two upper beds can be used as additional storage for luggage – or they simply can be folded away. Toilets and wash basins for common use are situated at both ends of each Standard Plus sleeping car. The sleeping cars are air conditioned (central control). The air condition operates only during the time the train is moving. Sockets for 220 V are available in each cabin, capable for razors, loading mobile phones, cameras and notebooks. Standard Plus cars offer 9 cabins each and may be booked for double or single use.

Deluxe Silver Cabins

For those looking for great comfort

Deluxe Silver sleeping cars offer slightly smaller cabins than on Deluxe Gold cars. Deluxe Silver cabins have a private toilet, wash basin and “wet-room” style shower en suite. Each cabin offers 1 lower and 1 upper bed, a table at the window, a chair opposite the beds, a small wardrobe and storage space. Euro-Sockets for 220 V are in each cabin, capable for razors, loading mobile phones, cameras and notebooks. The cars are air conditioned (individual control). The air condition operates only during the time the train is moving.

Deluxe Silver sleeping cars have only 6 cabins each and may be booked for double or single use.

Deluxe Gold Cabins

Deluxe Gold cabins have a private toilet, wash basin and a spacious shower cabin en suite. Each cabin offers 1 lower and 1 upper bed, a table at the window, a chair opposite the beds, a small wardrobe and storage space. Euro-Sockets for 220 V are in each cabin, capable for razors, loading mobile phones, cameras and notebooks. The cars are air conditioned (individual control). The air condition operates only during the time the train is moving.

Deluxe Gold sleeping cars have only 5 cabins each and may be booked for double or single use.
