Day to Day Itinerary
01-06-14 Moscow. Welcome to Moscow! A member of our Moscow service team meets you at the airport and transfers you to the hotel which is close to the city centre.
02-06-14 Moscow | Train. A full day city sightseeing tour shows you the magnificent Red Square and Kremlin grounds, Bolshoi Theatre, Sparrow Hills and other highlights of Moscow. Russia’s capital of today makes you forgetting old stories of Russia being grey and dark. Moscow has become a vibrant city, comparable to Paris or Rome and full of life. Late afternoon the almost 9,000km long Trans-Siberianl journey to Vladivostok begins.
03-06-14 Train | Ekaterinburg. Today you spend a full day travelling across the Ural Mountains which divide Europe and Asia. Shortly before arrival the train passes geographical border between Europe and Asia at milepost 1,777, which is marked by an obelisk south of the line. From now on you are in Asia! In the evening you arrive to Ekaterinburg.
04-06-14 Ekaterinburg | Train. Full day in Ekaterinburg, capital of the Ural Mountains. An extensive sightseeing tour shows historical places of memory to the last Russian Czar Nicholas II and his family. The 'Cathedral on The Blood' was constructed at the place where Czar Nicholas II and his family were executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918. You will visit Ganina Yama, one of Russia’s new holy places. Seven chapels, one for each member of the last royal family, make this place spiritual.
05-06-14 Train | Novosibirsk. After passing through the plains of Western Siberia you arrive in Novosibirsk in the evening. With 1,5 million inhabitants Russia’s third largest city, Novosibirsk is regarded as the centre of Siberia. It was founded in 1893 as the future site of the Trans Siberian railway bridge crossing the Siberian River Ob.
06-06-14 Novosibirsk | Train. You will visit the largest opera house in Russia, on Lenin Square as well as some remarkable orthodox churches which have survived the Soviet period. A visit to the local market gives a deep insight into the daily life of Siberian people. The Trans Siberian Open Air Railway Museum on the outskirts of the city shows steam locomotives and historic passenger cars, which represent the development of the Trans Siberian Railway.
07-06-14 Krasnoyarsk | Train. In the morning you reach Krasnoyarsk, which is located along Yenissey River, a huge river system flowing to the Arctic Ocean. A sightseeing tour takes you to viewpoints offering marvellous view over the city. A walk on the main street is fascinating because of its Mediterranean touch. The local mayor decided to decorate it with palm trees in summer time – in the middle of Siberia! As you are not staying overnight in Krasnoyarsk, day rooms for shower are provided at a centrally located hotel.
08-06-14 Irkutsk. Again in the morning you reach Irkutsk. The old city is easy to navigate and many of the existing wooden buildings are still in use today. In the wooden house of a former Duke you enjoy a private classical concert you would never expect in such a remote place
09-06-14 Lake Baikal | Irkutsk. Today one of the top highlights of the tour will amaze you. Lake Baikal holds the biggest fresh water reserves in the world. It stretches up to 26 miles from east to west and more than 370 miles from north to south. You will never forget the mountain ranges around Lake Baikal and the deep blue water within. A walking tour through the small village of Listvyanka on the shore of Lake Baikal will give you a genuine experience of typical Siberian village life. The legend says after bathing in Baikal Lake your life will become longer. Put your feet into the clear and cold water of Lake Baikal and you will never forget it! On a great Siberian lunch you can taste the famous Omul fish which is living only in Lake Baikal.
10-06-14 Train. In the early morning the train crosses a mountain range located between Irkutsk and Lake Baikal. When descending from the mountains to the Lake you will have amazing views on the deep blue water of Baikal. Take advantage of the fantastic photo opportunities as you pass through these world wonders. For several hours the main line is now following the shore of Lake Baikal. In Ulan Ude the Trans Mongolian Railway southbound to Mongolia is diverting from the mainline, while you continue eastbound towards Vladivostok.
11-06-14 Train. While enjoying the scenery of the Russian Far East, you are invited to join one of the lectures being hold by your tour escort. You will get a deep insight into history, geography and culture and daily life in Russia. Also, you can learn some basics of of the Russian language.
12-06-14 Train | Khabarovsk. The train is following the Shilka and Amur Rivers, quite close to the Chinese border. Another relaxed day with lots of time to watch the scenery or join one of the lectures. In the evening the train crosses the Amur River on a mile-long bridge and reaches Khabarovsk for an overnight stop.
13-06-14 Khabarovsk | Train. Today you explore Khabarovsk, second largest city of the Russian Far East, and enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the mighty Amur River.
14-06-14 Vladivostok. After almost 9,300 km of travelling from Moscow, crossing from Europe into Asia, your private train arrives in Vladivostok. You will enjoy a sight-seeing tour of this major military port area which was closed to foreigners during Soviet times.
15-06-14 Vladivostok | Depart. Airport transfers are provided by our service team to connect with your flight departing Vladivostok.

Day to Day Itinerary
28-06-14 Arrival in Moscow. You will be met at Moscow airport and transferred to your hotel.
29-06-14 Moscow | Train. A full day sightseeing tour shows you the magnificent Red Square, the Kremlin grounds and other highlights of Moscow. In the evening transfer to the railway station where your private special train Grand Trans Siberian Express is expecting you to board for the first leg of the almost 8,000 km long journey to Beijing. Welcome dinner and accommodation on board the Grand Trans Siberian Express.
30-06-14 Kazan | Train. Sightseeing in Kazan starts with a comprehensive tour of the city. Kazan has a beautiful citadel, called Kremlin, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000. It is surrounded by towers and walls, erected in the 16th and 17th centuries. In the Kazan Kremlin grounds there are the huge Qol-Şarif mosque and the Palace of the local Governor.

05-07-14 Lake Baikal | Train. Today one of the top highlights of the tour will amaze you. Lake Baikal holds the biggest fresh water reserves in the world. It stretches up to 26 miles from east to west and more than 370 miles from north to south. You will never forget the mountain ranges around Lake Baikal and the deep blue water within. Today the private train is running at low speed along the scenic Circum Baikal Railway line between Sludyanka and Port Baikal, which for many years has seen only a couple of local trains and tourist trains. Along the way you will stop at a small village where you can get off the train, put your feet into the clear and cold water of Lake Baikal and visit the typical wooden houses of local people. A Baikal picnic is also a part of the program. During lunch you can taste the famous Omul fish which is living only in Lake Baikal.At Port Baikal you will cross Lake Baikal to the small village Listvyanka. A walk through the village shows you to St Nicholas church, a typical orthodox wooden build church beautiful renovated in the1990’s.
06-07-14 Ulan Ude | Train. Ulan Ude is the heart of the 'Buryat Autonomous Republic' with an amazing mix of cultures between Burytia, Mongolia, Siberia and a meeting place between east and west. From here we branch off the Siberian mainline onto the Trans-Mongolian railway lineto the Russian border station Naushki and the Mongolian border station Sukebaatar. Immigration formalities will take place in the train and you can stay in your compartment.
07-07-14 Train | Ulaanbaatar. In the morning you arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You will visit the famous Ghandan Monastery, the central Sukhebaatar Square, the Bogd Khan Museum which used to be formerly the winter and sometimes also the summer palace of the Khan’s, as well as the Zaisan monument at a viewpoint high above the city. From there you will have an excellent view of the city which is surrounded by large areas of yurt settlements. An amazing cultural music and dance show will introduce Mongolian folk music and culture to you.
08-07-14 Ulaanbaatar | Train. You will have an excursion outside the city to the open steppe and Terelj National Park, to visit holy places and stone monuments. You will stop by a traditional Mongolian nomadic family, to visualise their herding lifestyle inside a ger. You will witness a mini-Naadam festival with demonstrations of Wrestling and Archery.
09-07-14 Gobi Desert | Train (border). In the morning the train arrives at the Mongolian-Chinese border, in the middle of Mongolian gobi. You will connect to a Chinese operated trainb here (as the railway track in China is a differen width) and during this process you will visit the desert and have your first Chinese lunch.
10-07-14 Train | Beijing. A full day city sightseeing tour shows you the Imperial Palace 'Forbidden City', huge Tian An Men Square and the Temple of Heaven.
11-07-14 Beijing. Today you will visit the Great Wall of China, the '8th wonder of the world'. The 6,000 km the wall stretches across China. On the return way you visit the Ming Tombs. A farewell dinner will be hold in one the famous Peking duck restaurants.
12-07-14 Beijing | Depart. Airport transfers are provided by our service team to connect with your flight departing China
