Direct Trains
The quickest and cheapest route is to travel direct from Moscow to Beijing, without stopping. There are two direct routes, via Mongolia, or via Manchuria. Please click here for trips with stopovers along the way.
Moscow to Beijing - via Mongolia
Trans-Mongolian direct train, you travel 7,622 kilometres across three countries which takes 6 nights (almost 132 hours). You stop 35 times and for a total of 34 hours (including 2 slow borders).
- TRIP NOTES: Departure from Moscow every Tuesday. The most popular direct trip. You need Russian, Mongolian and Chinese visas.
- PRICE INCLUDES: train ticket, info pack, a night in Moscow in a 3* hotel and transfer on departure.
- WE SUGGEST: Break the journey by adding at least one stopover, particularly in the summer months.
Moscow to Beijing - via Manchuria
Trans-Manchurian direct train, you travel 8,961 kilometres across 5 time zones which takes 6 days, 7 nights (almost 144 hours). You stop 46 times and for a total of 34 hours (including 1 border).
- TRIP NOTES: Departure from Beijing is on Saturday nights only. Less popular than the Trans-Mongolian, but you only need two visas.
- PRICE INCLUDES: train ticket, info pack, a night in Moscow in a 3* hotel and transfer on departure.
- WE SUGGEST: Break the journey by adding at least one stopover, particularly in the summer months.
