Moscow to Beijing - stopping in Mongolia

Travel on the Trans-Mongolian train including time in Mongolia! Book some of our varied tours in Mongolia before arriving in Beijing. Travel 7,622 kilometres, across three countries and five time zones from Europe to the Far East!

 
  • TRIP NOTES: Only stopping in Mongolia for a minimum of 3 nights. Departure from Mongolia on THURSDAYS ONLY. Services in Mongolia must be booked with us as tickets for train #24 are in short supply!
  • WE SUGGEST: Seriously consider a Lake Baikal stopover (our MB28 option) as well. If just doing a Mongolia stopover add in the Gobi on the way up to Ulaanbaatar to avoid backtracking later.

Moscow to Lake Baikal and Beijing - via Trans-Mongolian

From Moscow, break the journey at the half-way point to explore stunning Lake Baikal before continuing on the most popular route through Mongolia to Beijing.

 
  • TRIP NOTES: To Beijing via the Mongolian route. Minimum two nights stopover in Irkutsk. Odd numbered departure dates from Moscow and even numbered dates only from Irkutsk.
  • WE SUGGEST: After travelling up through Mongolia you’ll probably wish you had stopped there (see packages MB28 & MB29)! If you have been to Mongolia before then this is a good option allowing you to maximize your time at Lake Baikal.

Moscow to Lake Baikal and Beijing - via Trans-Manchurian

Although you miss the scenery of Mongolia the schedule may suit your trip better - and you only need to a Mongolian Transit visa. After stopping at stunning Lake Baikal you will continue to Beijing via Harbin.

 
  • TRIP NOTES: misses Mongolia - uses the trans-Manchurian route. Minimum two nights stopover in Irkutsk, with time at Lake Baikal. Departures from Irkutsk on even numbered dates only.
  • WE SUGGEST: Make the most of your time at Irkutsk if this is the only stop you make. Consider an Olkhon island trip as the best way to appreciate the immensity of Lake Baikal.

  • Standard Package Price is based on second class train travel. Upgrades Price refers to the extra cost to upgrade to a first class 2 berth cabin on one or more of the train journeys.
