Direct Trains
The quickest and cheapest route is to travel direct from Beijing to Moscow, without stopping. There are two direct routes, via Mongolia, or via Manchuria. Please click here for trips with stopovers along the way.
Beijing to Moscow - via Mongolia direct
Trans-Mongolian direct train, you travel 7,622 kilometres across three countries which takes 6 days, 5 nights (almost 122 hours). You stop 34 times and for a total of 29 hours (including 2 slow borders).
- TRIP NOTES: Departure from Beijing is on Wednesdays only. The most popular direct trip. You need Chinese, Mongolian and Russian visas.
- PRICE INCLUDES: train ticket, info pack, transfer on arrival in Moscow and the first night in a 3* hotel.
- WE SUGGEST: Break the journey by adding at least one stopover, particularly in the summer months.
Beijing to Moscow - via Manchuria
Trans-Manchurian direct train, you travel 8,961 kilometres across 5 time zones which takes 6 nights (almost 134 hours). You stop 43 times and for a total of 30 hours (including 1 border).
- TRIP NOTES: Departure from Beijing is on Saturday nights only. Less popular than the Trans-Mongolian, but you only need two visas.
- PRICE INCLUDES: train ticket, info pack, transfer on arrival in Moscow and the first night in a 3* hotel.
- WE SUGGEST: Break the journey by adding at least one stopover, particularly in the summer months.
