The last section showed packages travelling direct from Beijing to Moscow without stopping, here are some options that break the journey once.

Beijing to Moscow - stopping in Mongolia
Travel on the Trans-Mongolian train including time in Mongolia! Book some of our varied tours in Mongolia before continuing on to Moscow. Travel 7,622 kilometres and five time zones from Asia into Europe!
- TRIP NOTES: Stop in Mongolia for 2 or 5 nights depending on timetable.
- Departure from Mongolia on TUESDAYS & FRIDAYS ONLY as indicated on the graphic below.
- Services in Mongolia must be booked with us as tickets for train #23 are in short supply!
- WE SUGGEST: Seriously consider a Lake Baikal stopover (our BM8 option) as well. If just doing a Mongolia stopover add in the Gobi on the way up to Ulanbaatar to avoid backtracking later.
Beijing to Lake Baikal and Moscow - via Trans-Mongolian
Travel on the most popular train, along the most route popular through Mongolia to Irkutsk, where you break the journey at the half-way point to explore stunning Lake Baikal before continuing to Moscow.
- TRIP NOTES: To Irkutsk via the Mongolian route. Minimum two nights stopover in Irkutsk. Even date departure only from Irkutsk.
- WE SUGGEST: After travelling
up through Mongolia you’ll probably wish you had stopped there
(see
packages BM8 & 9)! If you have been to Mongolia before
then this is a good option allowing you to maximize your time
at Lake Baikal.

Beijing to Lake Baikal and Moscow - via Trans-Manchurian
Departing from Beijing on a Saturday you miss the scenery of Mongolia. After stopping at stunning Lake Baikal you will continue to Moscow with an option to extend to St Petersburg.
- TRIP NOTES: does not travel through Mongolia as uses the Trans-Manchurian line. Minimum two nights stopover in Irkutsk, with time at Lake Baikal. Departures from Irkutsk on ODD numbered dates only as indicated on the graphic below.
- WE SUGGEST: Make the most of
your time at Irkutsk if this is the only stop you make. Consider
an Olkhon
island trip as the best way to appreciate the immensity
of Lake Baikal.
