St Petersburg Overview
We can book a range of accommodation in St Petersburg at the start or end of your trans-siberian trip. We also have a local office for assistance while you are in Moscow to help book theatre tickets or sightseing tours.
Background
St. Petersburg has a rich and varied cultural scene: theatre, ballet, opera, genuine Russian circus, classical and rock concerts. Buildings and monuments of great historical interest, such as the Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac Cathedral and Menshikov Palace. Museums covering every imaginable field - art, literature, ethnographics, military history and music. During recent years, several buildings that were once private palaces have been opened to the general public after having been occupied by official organizations. Tickets to performances can be bought for Roubles directly at the theatre and at ticket booths in the city or in advance online. The Service bureau at your hotel will charge you a much higher price.

Introduction
How much time you spend in Moscow and St. Petersburg is entirely up to you, but from experience we recommend to spend at least 3 days in Moscow and 4 days in St. Petersburg. This would give you just enough time to do justice to some of the many things to see and do in these places. However, many of our travellers regret, after going there, that they did not plan a longer stay, but by then it's too late as the Russian visa comes with a fixed departure date.
Accommodation
Unfortunately St Petersburg is possible home to the worst value accommodation in the world! This seems partly to do with a major shortage of hotels. Consequently to get decent quality you need to pay high prices. We offer a range of accommodation which we feel represents the best the city can offer for the price. Note that for much of the year it is essential to book well in advance to secure rooms - especially the “White Nights” period from mid-June to mid-July.
Alternatively homestays are available. The visa registration at St Petersburg
homestays differs from Moscow’s procedure so there is a one off registrations
fee of € 14 which isn’t included in the price of the homestay as it is
in Moscow. As in Moscow all apartments are close to Metro stops.
Guided Tours
Our partners have offices in both cities, convenient to hire a guide,

pre-book these tours but Marlis will offer these to you on arrival in Moscow

once you have booked with us.
