Module Itineraries for Gobi Trips
To avoid back tracking in Mongolia, we arrange trips in the Gobi Desert with the starting point in Sainshand. You will get off the train early and spend a few days in the Gobi Desert before boarding a local train with your guide to continue the journey to Ulanbaatar, or onward to Beijing. We pioneered these style of Gobi trips in 2003 and since then they have steadily grown in popularity with our Trans-Siberian travellers. Notes:
- This tour can be added onto any package that has a stop in Mongolia, for example Packages from Beijing including BM3, BM8, BM9, BM10, BM16. And Packages from Moscow such as MB23, MB28, MB28.
- You will be met in Sainshand by a guide from Shuren Co., who will usually travel with you on the overnight train Ulaanbaatar / Sainshand.
- A sleeping bag is provided when staying in tents.
- Gobi Trips are available
from the 15th of May till the 1st of October.
Gobi Package Add On from Beijing
Gobi

- Add a stop in the Gobi Desert to any package that includes a stop in Mongolia.
- Take a local train with your guide to continue the journey to Ulanbaatar.
- We have two tours in the Gobi to choose from - based in a Ger, or a longer camel trek - see below for itineraries.

| DAY 1 |  Arrive in Sainshand at 06:26 (05:26 Chinese time). Meet
guide and transfer to camp. Have a lie in and then visit the reconstructed
Khamariin Khiid monastery, the nearby "small sandy dunes", the Gobi Saksaul forest and
a camel breeding family (if more than 10 pax camel racing can be organized).
Overnight at ger camp. |
| DAY 2 |  Day trip to "Died Wood" near the
Khamariin Khiid monastery. Visit caves that the Lammas used for meditation,
search for dinosaur fossils (skeletons and eggs) and see the petrified
wood in the desert. Overnight at ger camp. |
| DAY 3 |  Free time at the ger camp with possibility
of camel riding. Afternoon transfer to Sainshand to visit local
museums. Depart Sainshand train #285 at 21:15 with your guide. |

| DAY 1 |  Arrive in Sainshand at 06:26 (05:26 Chinese time). Meet

visit camel breeding family. Start camel trek by going to the small
sandy dunes (15km approx 3 hours of trekking). Overnight in tent. |
| DAY 2 |  Camel trekking to Hamriin
Monastery and surroundings where many fossils
and Dinosaur bones can be found. (50km approx
6-7 hours trekking). Overnight in tent. |
| DAY 3 |  Camel trekking to the "Dead Wood
area" where unique stones can be found. (20-30km
~5-7 hours trekking). Overnight in tent. |
| DAY 4 |  Camel trekking to a monastery
up in the mountains (15km about 5 hours trekking)
climbing up to a local peak. Back to the ger
camp and free time. Overnight at the ger camp. |
| DAY 5 |  Free time at the ger camp to relax.
Afternoon transfer to Sainshand to visit local
museums. Depart Sainshand train #285 at 21:15 with your
guide. |
