Module Tours at Elstei Ger Camp
Elstei Ger Camp Trip | Open Steppe Trip
Our most popular Mongolian stopovers are based at Elstei Ger camp. This camp is set in a beautiful open grassland with a back drop of rugged mountains. Whilst at the camp a range of activities are available from archery, wrestling, Ger building, horse riding (additional fee to most packages), visiting local nomadic families, trekking or just kicking back outside your ger and taking in the vast nature around you. Elstei is often sighted as the highlight of a Trans-Siberian trip.
Notes:
- Trips to Elstei can be added onto any package that has a stop in Mongolia. The start of the trip is in Ulanbaatar where a City tour is given before being transferred to the ger camp.
- You will sleep in a traditional Mongolian 'ger' with comfortable beds with clean linen and blankets. The camp features a shower block and washing facilities with hot water, a restaurant and shop. While in Elstei all meals are provided and are prepared to good standards. In the evening there are often cultural performances such as singing and dancing, or your guide will teach you traditional Mongolian board games!
- Elstei Trips are available
year round, although in winter (from October to April,
depending on weather) the shower block and restaurant are
closed due to frozen pipes. Instead meals are prepared in
a kitchen ger and basic washing facilities and toilet are
provided. The ger is well heated by a wood burning stove.
