Beijing Office Directions

Directions to our Beijing Office

Our office in Beijing is located between the 2nd and 3rd ring roads, in the east of Beijing. Famous landmarks in the area are 3.3 Shopping Centre, The Village, Zhaolong Hotel, Sanlitun Embassy District (lot's of Western restaurants). We are between the Beijing Subway Dongsishitiao Stop (line 2) and Tuanjiehu Stop (line 13).

Google Maps

If you have an iPhone or similar, save these coordinates as a bookmark in Google maps. The link will also open in Google Maps on your computer. Please note you need to use the 'map' version, not the 'satellite' overlay - as Google Maps have slightly different co-ordinates throughout China for some unexplanable reason!

Guide Books

On 8th January 2007 we moved to the Youyi / Poachers Inn, marked as #100 on the central Beijing map (p.102) in 2005 Lonely Planet China and #5 on the Sanlitun Map (p. 131) in 2005

Sanlitun District

Most taxi drivers will know 'Sanlitun' Bar Street which is in East Beijing between 2nd and 3rd Ring Roads. However they won't know the side streets and smaller bars that run off Sanlitun Bar Street. The biggest landmark to look out for is the '3.3' (san dian san) Shopping Centre, a neon-clad 5 storey shopping centre half way along Sanlitun. Head behind this building and walk around behind Poachers Inn, Shooters, Fish Nation, Kai Club. Behind Poachers Inn is The Tree Bar, Youyi Hostel and our office inside the hostel building – refer to the map below. Taxi drivers should also know ‘Sanlitun Yashow’ Clothing Market.

From Train Station

If you are coming off the Trans-Siberian train or from Shanghai, you will arrive at Beijing Main Station. Cross over the road to take a taxi from the rank next to the post office to avoid a detour the wrong way around the ring-road! Cost should be around ¥25 (~US$3) and should be less than 30 minutes. Make sure you have Chinese currency as taxi's won't accept US$ and there is no exchange counter at the train station.

If you are arriving from Hong Kong or from around China by train, you may arrive at Beijing West Station. The metro is a ten minute walk north from the train station! Our office is about 18km away. By taxi it will cost ¥40 to ¥60 RMB. (~US$5 / US$7). Queue up and take a taxi from the main taxi rank inside the station. During rush hour it can take more than 1 hour to get to our office.

By Metro

Alternatively, avoid the growing traffic jams in the City and use the metro. A single journey on the metro only costs ¥3. Take a metro to Dongsishitiao (东四十条) on the east side of the Loop Line. From here it is a 20 minute walk to our office. Take Exit B for Poly Plaza and walk directly east along Gongrentiyuchang (Gongti Beilu), pass McDonald’s on your left and the Worker’s Gymnasium on your right. Cross Chunxiu Lu and pass the Worker’s Stadium on your right. Cross over Xindong Lu and as you pass City Hotel and KFC look out for Yashow (marked on our map and known by taxi drivers). Yahsow is just next door to the modern The Village, with flag ship stires such as Adidas, Apple, North Face. We are in a side street in between The Village South and The Village North. With luggage hop in a taxi (or bus #115, #734, #834, #113 to 'Sanliturn') from the metro and you should get to Yashow in around 5 minutes (depending on traffic) for the minimum .

Click here for a tour of the Beijing Subway and it's various stations and ticket systems.

From Airport

Make sure you take a regular taxi from the rank which is displaying a "supervision card" on the front passenger dashboard and insist they use the meter. It should cost less than ¥100 (US$12) including ¥10 for the airport expressway toll and should take less than 1 hour. There is also a CAAC shuttle-bus that brings you into town for ¥16 but the closest stop is Xindong Lu (near Canadian Embassy) which is just off the North West corner of the map above. There is also the Airport Shuttle train which brings you in to Dongzhimen Transfer Station, not so far from our office.
