Hello Matt and/or Vanessa,

I just wanted to write and let you know that we had a wonderful time on our trip.  All went really well.  The guides, homestays and everything were fantastic.  We actually really enjoyed going in the low season, we had so many places and trains almost to ourselves.  We already recommended your services to some other people on the plane home.

Anyway, thanks again.

Mongolia was great, much better than I dreamed it would be.

John Vallejo, Oct 2009

Hello Matt
We loved our whole trip with moneyshrine through Russia and Mongolia.
We did have a mix up in Moscow upon arrival.( we did not get picked up) and I didn't get to see the twisted cedars by lake Baikal or as much of the lake as I would have liked.
But Russia was great and the planning of the trip was very well done. And all the people that worked for y'all were friendly and did a good job for us.
Can you do a trip for us that has us doing the boat trek across lake Baikal with a English speaking guide? We would like to do that maybe at the end of next year. Mongolia was great, much better than I dreamed it would be. We had one very slow driver, one day and the Ger camp in the dessert didn't live up to the first Ger camp we stayed at. But all else was better than I hoped for, Mongolia was great and the planing and people were also.
Thanks for your time and help to us on the trip

Matt,

Just a quick note to confirm that we had a terrific trip and would do it all over again tomorrow! Everything was organised perfectly and the quality of the guides in Irkutsk and UB were terrific!

Until the next time . . . . .

Hey Matt:

My wife and I took your trip #5 a couple weeks back. Life's been pretty busy since we returned, but just wanted to say that the trip was pretty amazing.  Mongolia and Beijing were the big highlights.

Thanks for helping us put it all together.

Vanessa, Just a quick note to let you know that we arrived home safely last night around midnight after a perfect trip!!! EVERYTHING far exceeded our expectations. The guides in both Mongolia and Irkutsk were just outstanding and we felt sad leaving our new friends! Really, I could not suggest one thing as an improvement to your program. THANKS so much for making such a fantastic trip possible for us. It was so nice to finally get to meet you.

Hello to everyone there and THANKS SO MUCH.
Warmly,
Jeanne

Jenny and Lena were great guides, and the homestays in Moscow and SP were really enjoyable too..

Trevor Smith, April 2009

Hi Matt,

Just arrived back in the UK. The trip was really great, it worked out very well on the whole. Many thanks for all your help with putting it together - much appreciated.

John and Nicola were a really great couple so it was easy to spend time with them. I'm not sure if you've had any feedback from the others yet, but I expect we're all saying largely the same thing. Overall things went really smoothly. If anything, it would have been nice to have had the option to have had closer contacts with guides in Moscow and St Petersburg.

In Moscow there was no guide to meet us, only a driver, who spoke no English. We had been hoping to arrange a guided walk around some part of the city (as we thought we would have been able to do) but it didn't work out as there was no guide. It was their loss, but also to some extent our loss too.

Also in St Petersburg, the guide who met us at the station, although perfectly friendly, didn't mention optional tours. I guess we'd got used to being somewhat mollycoddled in the earlier parts of the trip (Jenny, the UB guide, was outstanding) but nevertheless, it would have been good to have had the option of extras, or at least to have been met by the guide (in Moscow). We had many questions but it was impossible to communicate over the bad mobile line when we tried to talk to her from the car when we arrived.

The provodnistas on the Russian and Mongolian legs of the trip were excellent. We only had problems with the ones on the Beijing to UB part - there were some dubious claims for cash for various services, and Nicola was never given any change for one transaction (the woman who took the money seemed to disappear, though she was a provodnista). Also, they locked us on our carriage (or didn't give us the option to get off) during the wheel changing/border crossing, so the people on our carriage were stuck on for five hours or so - of all the carriages we were the only ones locked in.

Well, I just thought you might be interested in some feedback. As I said, overall I'm really happy with the way things went. Jenny and Lena were great guides, and the homestays in Moscow and SP were really enjoyable too.

Thanks again for all your input and always speedy replies. I'll recommend Monkey Shrine.

Best,
Trevor
